Langhe stone was originally discovered while excavating the fields and was then used for building.
Amongst other construction work, the stone was used to build terraces to help cultivate as much of the hillsides as possible.
This stone, which forms the backbone of the Langhe hills, also forms the new wing of Hotel Langhe.
